Reverend Rickey Jones, Sr is a native Georgian. He was born in 1963 to Mr. Rufus and Lillie Jones. Pastor Rickey and Christine Jones reside in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. They are the proud parents of two children, Shanta and Rickey Jr., and five grandchildren.
Reverend Jones was called by God to preach His Word at the age of 29 and was licensed to preach on October 31, 1993, under the leadership of Pastor Clarence Moore at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. As a member of Good Shepherd since 1974, he served faithfully as an Associate Minister, Deacon, Co-Director of Evangelistic Task Force, Sunday School and Bible Study Teacher, Assistant Director of Royal Ambassadors, and Male Chorus Songster.
It became clear that God’s hand was upon the ministry of Reverend Jones. In January 1995, he was ordained under the leadership of Pastor James E. Hightower at Greater Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. As a member from 1994 to 2010, he served faithfully on the ministerial staff, Director of SWAT Ministries (Evangelistic Outreach), Premarital Counselor, Bible Conference Teacher and Advisor to other ministries in the church until his season ended. He resumed his ministry under the leadership of Pastor Jerry D. Black at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia from 2010 to 2012. He served joyfully as an Associate Minister, Joshua Man’s member and a Bible Teacher in the Christian Education ministry.

Reverend Jones retired as New Service Support Supervisor at Georgia Power Company in 2013 after 26 years of service. He was responsible for order management, and coordination and dispatch of new electrical services for metro and non-metro regions. In his tenure with the company, he held numerous positions. He also served in the United States Army from 1981 to 1987 as an Administrative Specialist and received numerous service awards to include the Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal with first oak leaf clusters.
In 1987, Reverend Jones graduated from Augusta Technical School in Augusta, Georgia, with a diploma in Accounting. After many years as a part-time student, he received a Bachelors of Arts degree with Honors in Biblical Studies in May 2014 from Carver College in Atlanta, GA. Upon graduation, Reverend Jones was awarded the Ripley Perseverance Award for his demonstration of remarkable steadfastness and perseverance through a lengthy record of attendance and quality academic performance at Carver College while serving diligently and faithfully in ministry at his church.
Reverend Jones was elected and called to pastor Greater Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia on March 24, 2012. He began his service as undershepherd on April 1, 2012 and was installed as the second Pastor of Greater Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church on July 1, 2012. He lives by Romans 8:28,And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
